Brief introduction of Libya
Libya in North Africa, which shares borders with Egypt, Sudan, Chad, Niger, Algeria, Tunisia and the Mediterranean Sea, has a population of 7 million people and an area of 1 million and 700 square kilometers, among which Tripoli is the most important city in this country. According to the report of the Iran and Africa Business Club from the International Trade Center, Libya’s total trade in 2021 was 54 billion 800 million dollars, the share of goods exports from this country was more than 31 billion 500 million dollars, 97% of which belonged to exports is oil. In addition, the most exports of this country have been made to Italy, China, Spain, France and the United Arab Emirates respectively. Also, the export of business services from Libya in 2019 was worth 133 million dollars.
According to this report, the total value of imported goods destined for Libya in 2021 has reached 15 billion and 800 million dollars, and the first 5 items of this country’s import list are fuel and oil products, machinery and mechanical equipment, electrical equipment, vehicles and grains. The first 3 countries supplying products to Libya were China, Turkey and Italy respectively. Also, the value of technical engineering services imported to Libya in 2019 was 7 billion and 300 million dollars.
According to the customs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the amount of Iran’s exports to Libya in 2021 was more than 8 million dollars, and in recent years, no goods have been imported from Libya to Iran because, as mentioned before, the main export product of Libya is oil.
