Mozambique

 

The Republic of Mozambique is located in the southeast of the African continent with a population of 31 million people, whose capital is Maputo. The official language of its people is Portuguese and Christianity and Islam are common among them. The area of this country is about the size of Turkey and it also has a wide coast of the Indian Ocean. Mozambique was colonized by Portugal in the 16th century and became a communist country after independence in 1975.

Although this country is not in a position of power economically, the gross domestic product of Mozambique is more than 14 billion dollars and 70% of their workforce is engaged in the agricultural sector.

According to the report of the International Trade Center, the total trade of Mozambique in 2021 was nearly 17 billion dollars, the share of goods exports from this country in 2021 has reached 5 billion dollars, and oil exports are at the top with the amount of 2 billion and 200 million dollars. Mozambique’s export products are placed and aluminum, mineral stones, vegetables and tobacco are included in the list of Mozambique’s export products after oil. In addition, the most exports of this country have been made to South Africa, India, Holland, China and England, respectively.

According to the statistical report of the same center, the total value of imported goods to Mozambique in 2021 was about 8 billion and 600 million dollars, and the first 5 items in the country’s import list are fuel and petroleum products, machinery and mechanical equipment, grains, railways and its related devices and electrical machines and equipment have been assigned to it, and the first 5 countries supplying goods to Mozambique were South Africa, China, India, United Arab Emirates and Singapore, respectively.

The total export of services from Mozambique in 2020 was more than 760 million dollars and the import of services was 2 billion 400 million dollars in the same year.

According to the customs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Iran’s total exports to Mozambique reached more than 98 million dollars in 2021, of which 99% was the share of urea exports. Also, no goods have been imported from Mozambique to Iran in recent years.
