Tanzania

The United Republic of Tanzania is a country of about 60 million people in East Africa, which is bordered by Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Zambia, Malawi, and Mozambique, and is bounded by the Indian Ocean to the east. It is larger than Egypt and smaller than Nigeria in terms of area.

The official capital of Tanzania was moved from the coastal city of Dar es Salaam to the city of Dodoma in 1996. The government of Tanzania is a multi-party federal republic with a legislature.

Tanzania’s economy is based on agriculture, which accounts for more than half of the gross domestic product, about 85% of exports and 80% of the labor force, however, the weather conditions and unevenness have caused only 4% of the country’s land to be devoted to agriculture. The underdevelopment of the country has slowed down the exploitation of mines. And the tourism industry also plays an important role in the economy of Tanzania.

In addition, the drought since the beginning of the 21st century greatly reduced the production of electricity in the country, because about 60% of Tanzania’s electricity is provided by hydroelectric power plants.
