At a gathering of Iranians living in South Africa, the Minister of Iranian Affairs spoke about President Raisi’s strong connection to both Iranians living abroad and their homeland.
The minister, Hossein Amirabdollahian, is currently in Pretoria for an official bilateral visit and to participate in the 15th meeting of the Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation between Iran and South Africa. During his speech, he highlighted the importance of strengthening the connection between Iranians abroad and their motherland, and mentioned initiatives like the Persman traffic system, which allows Iranians abroad to return safely.
Amirabdollahian also discussed the issue of military service for the children of Iranians living abroad and explained that they are working on a comprehensive law for the protection of Iranians that will address this issue and others like dual citizenship. He praised South Africa as Iran’s most important partner on the African continent and discussed bilateral relations and international issues with South African Foreign Minister Naldi Pandor and President Cyril Ramaphosa.
During his meetings, Amirabdollahian emphasized the importance of President Raisi’s presence at the BRICS summit and expressed South Africa’s interest in supporting Iran’s membership to the group. Overall, the minister’s visit aimed to strengthen economic cooperation between Iran and South Africa and deepen the ties between Iranians living abroad and their homeland.
