According to official news agencies, Mr. Hossein Amir Abdollahian, the Honorable Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, arrived in this country on Tuesday 31st of January 2023 at the head of a delegation to meet and talk with Mauritanian officials, and his counterpart “Mohammed Salem Ould Marzouk” also arrived at the airport to welcome him.
At the beginning of 2022, in a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and cooperation of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, while congratulating him on his election as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, emphasized the desire of the Islamic Republic of Iran to develop bilateral relations and said: The Islamic Republic of Iran is interested in expanding relations with the country of Mauritania.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs also appreciated the principled positions of Mauritania in support of the oppressed people of Palestine.
Mohammad Salem Ould Marzouk also considered the relations between the two countries of Iran and Mauritania to be strong and honest and noted: Considering the existing capacities, Mauritania welcomes the cooperation of the Islamic Republic of Iran to develop its infrastructure in line with mutual interests.
He also expressed hope that with the continuation of consultation and follow-up of the parties, the two countries will witness the development and expansion of bilateral relations.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran said that the Islamic Republic of Iran has no restrictions for the comprehensive development of cooperation with Mauritania, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mauritania, while welcoming the idea of expanding strategic relations with Iran, emphasized the development of relations in the fields of higher education, agriculture, fishing and renewable energy.
