The of trade between Iran and African countries growth about 100% between 21th March 2021- 22th March 2022.
According to the statistics of the deputy official of Iran and Africa Business Club, the trade volume increase from 550 million dollars in 2020 to 1 billion and 180 million dollars up to 2021, also 1 million 914 thousand tons of goods has been exchanged between Iran and the African countries which is worth 1 billion and 56 million and 555 thousand dollars between April-November 2022.
One of the main trading problems with the African continent is the lack of familiarity between African and Iranian merchants and the lack of communication and financial infrastructure. In order to solve these issues, tasks should be divided between governments and private sector activists, and due to the presence of Iranian merchants in various African countries, for example, in the commercial centers of Algeria, we have not had any commercial exchange with Algeria.
In this way, we can get help from activists who have experience working with this continent and bring these important markets closer together with the support of the government, and the presence of Iranian businessmen and the supply of Iranian goods in different African countries will bring a good economic capacity.
So far, trade with Africa has been one-way and we have mostly been exporters and have not been able to use the capacities of the African continent; Maybe because Africa has been an unknown continent in Iran’s business field. Another issue is expensive transportation, which causes the cost of goods to increase at the destination. Governments should be involved in these matters rather than being involved in minor matters.
Currently, about 80% of our exports to Africa are related to 5 countries, exports to South Africa were 529,000 tons worth 282 million dollars despite being the farthest point to Iran (in 9 months and 10 days at the beginning of this year), the second destination of Mozambique It was 349 tons with a value of 189 million dollars, the third is Ghana with 284 thousand tons with a value of 144 million dollars, Sudan with 365 thousand tons with a value of 142 million dollars and Nigeria with 223 thousand tons with a value of 129 million dollars.
