To create a company, in the first step, you need to determine the location and type of your business, choose a unique name for your company, and obtain licenses to start that business.
Step 1: Determine the type of business entity: The first step to registering a business in Eritrea is to determine the type of business entity you want to establish. Eritrea recognizes various types of business entities, including sole proprietorships, partnerships, limited liability companies and joint ventures, sole proprietorships, which are the simplest and most common type of business entity in Eritrea. In this type of business, the owner is personally responsible for all the debts and obligations of the business. Partnerships, on the other hand, involve two or more people sharing the profits and losses of the business. Limited liability companies offer more protection to business owners by limiting their personal liability for the debts and obligations of the business. Joint ventures involve two or more entities pooling their resources to carry out a specific business project.
Step 2: Choose a business name: After determining the type of business entity you want to establish, you need to choose a business name. The trademark must be unique and not previously registered with the Eritrean government. It is recommended to search for available names before registering your business.
Step 3: Get a Business License: All those with businesses operating in Eritrea must obtain a business license from the Ministry of Trade and Industry. To receive a business license, you must submit a completed application form along with supporting documents such as proof of business ownership or lease, tax clearance certificate, and business plan.

The Commercial Registration Department is responsible for keeping the records of all active businesses in the country. To register your business, you must submit the completed registration form along with supporting documents such as a business license, certificate of ownership or business lease, and company articles of association.
Step 5: Obtain a Tax Identification Number All businesses in Eritrea must obtain a Tax Identification Number (TIN) from the Eritrean Revenue and Customs Department. TINs are used to identify taxpayers and are required for tax purposes. To obtain a TIN, you must submit an application form along with supporting documents such as a business license and registration certificate.
Step 6: Register for Social Security: All businesses in Eritrea must register their employees for Social Security. To enroll in Social Security, you must submit an application form along with supporting documents such as a business license, registration certificate, and employee profile.
